American technology and e-commerce company Amazon plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027, expanding its cloud computing, artificial intelligence, satellite internet, logistics, and entertainment businesses.

The announcement was made during an investment summit in Berlin as major technology companies compete to strengthen their presence in Europe.

A significant portion of the investment, €4.8 billion, is earmarked for Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Frankfurt.

The expansion is intended to meet rising demand for cloud computing and AI services from businesses and other customers.

Amazon also plans to expand its logistics operations, develop its Amazon Leo satellite broadband network, and invest in new Prime Video productions.

These projects will broaden its presence beyond online retail and strengthen its position across several technology-related industries.

The company expects new logistics projects to create more than 3,000 jobs.

It also plans to establish a second robotics and artificial intelligence research laboratory in Berlin, supporting its efforts to develop new technologies and improve operations.

The investment builds on more than €100 billion Amazon says it has invested in Germany since 2010.

It highlights the importance of Germany as a technology and industrial market, while showing how major companies are committing substantial resources to cloud infrastructure and AI development.
