SpaceX Secures $40 Billion Financing Deal for AI Infrastructure
SpaceX has secured a financing commitment worth approximately $40 billion to acquire artificial intelligence chips and related data centre equipment.
The agreement was disclosed in a regulatory filing and represents one of the largest financing arrangements of its kind.
Under the agreement, an entity managed by Apollo Global Management will purchase the AI chips and server hardware before leasing the equipment to SpaceX.
The arrangement allows SpaceX to access expensive computing infrastructure without purchasing all the equipment upfront.
The leases are expected to last approximately five to five-and-a-quarter years, beginning when each portion of the equipment is delivered.
SpaceX expects the deal to close by the end of 2026, subject to the completion of required conditions.
The financing is intended to support SpaceX’s expanding artificial intelligence operations, including its data centres and AI-related services.
The company is increasingly investing in computing infrastructure as it broadens its business beyond its traditional space and satellite operations.
The agreement highlights the growing financial demands of the AI industry, where companies are committing billions of dollars to acquire computing power.
It also demonstrates how financing arrangements and equipment leasing are becoming important tools for businesses seeking to expand their AI capabilities.
