Saturday Night Live has turned its attention to the growing debate over the risks of artificial intelligence, featuring cast member Jane Wickline portraying Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei during the show’s Weekend Update segment.

The sketch focused on Amodei’s public warnings about the potential dangers of advanced artificial intelligence. 

Wickline portrayed the executive as uncertain and uneasy about the technology, using exaggerated exchanges with an imaginary darker side to parody concerns that AI could pose serious risks to humanity.

The fictional version of Amodei also joked about the contradiction between the potential benefits of AI and fears surrounding its development. 

The sketch suggested that while AI could potentially contribute to breakthroughs in areas such as medicine, its long term consequences remain difficult to predict.

The appearance comes as AI executives and researchers continue to debate the potential benefits and risks of increasingly powerful systems. 

Amodei has been among technology leaders calling for greater caution and safeguards as companies develop more advanced artificial intelligence.
