Rivian CEO to Discuss Electric Vehicles, Robotics and Autonomous Driving at Disrupt 2026

Last Updated: August 20, 2026By

Rivian chief executive RJ Scaringe is set to appear at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, where he will discuss the company’s approach to electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous transportation.

His appearance is expected to focus on the challenges of building and scaling a technology company that combines software with complex physical manufacturing.

Rivian has positioned itself at the intersection of transportation, artificial intelligence, software and advanced manufacturing.

Under Scaringe’s leadership, the company has also been exploring technologies that could reshape how vehicles are produced and operated as the automotive industry moves toward greater automation.

Scaringe has previously outlined ambitions for Rivian to achieve Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities by 2028.

The company has also been expanding its charging infrastructure, while Scaringe has become involved in robotics through Mind Robotics, a company focused on the development of humanoid robotic technology.

Rivian remains a major shareholder and customer of the robotics venture. The company is also relying heavily on its R2 electric SUV to broaden its customer base.

With an expected price of around $58,000, the vehicle is intended to reach a wider market than Rivian’s more expensive R1T pickup and R1S SUV.
Scaringe has described the R2 as one of the company’s most important product launches as Rivian faces slower demand for expensive electric vehicles and growing competition from lower cost manufacturers.

Scaringe’s session will form part of the programme at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, scheduled for October 13 through October 15 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

His appearance will provide an opportunity to examine how Rivian is combining electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous technology as it seeks to compete in an increasingly crowded transportation industry.
