OpenAI Reportedly in Talks to Raise $30 Billion at $1.4 Trillion Valuation
OpenAI is reportedly in discussions with investors to raise at least $30 billion in a new funding round that could value the artificial intelligence company at approximately $1.4 trillion.
The proposed funding would come as the ChatGPT developer continues to expand its business ahead of a potential future public offering.
According to reports, investor interest has increased as OpenAI’s revenue continues to grow.
The company’s annualized revenue reportedly reached $40 billion in August, representing a significant increase since July. OpenAI previously raised $122 billion in March at a valuation of approximately $852 billion.
The company had previously indicated that its March funding round could be its final private financing before an initial public offering.
However, Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman has ruled out a public debut in 2026, saying the company is prioritizing artificial intelligence safety as it continues to develop increasingly advanced systems.
The reported new funding could serve as a bridge to a future initial public offering.
At completion, the deal would represent another major increase in OpenAI’s valuation and provide the company with additional capital as it expands its artificial intelligence infrastructure, products and research.
