OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a startup focused on using artificial intelligence to transform written information and research into professional presentations.

The startup recently announced that its team had joined OpenAI, where its members will now work on ChatGPT-related projects.

NextSlide developed technology designed to turn prompts, notes, documents and research materials into polished, editable presentations. Its broader objective was to simplify visual communication and make it easier for users to present ideas clearly.

Founder Ahmed Beshry said the team intends to continue pursuing that mission at OpenAI by developing AI-powered tools that help people create content, communicate effectively and transform ideas into useful work.

The financial details of the acquisition have not been made public.

Beshry later revealed on LinkedIn that the announcement came several months after the transaction itself, explaining that OpenAI had completed the acquisition earlier in the year.

The acquisition also adds another experienced entrepreneur to OpenAI’s growing talent pool. Before founding NextSlide, Beshry was a co-founder of Caper AI, a company that developed smart shopping carts and cashier-less checkout technology. Instacart acquired Caper AI in 2021.

The NextSlide acquisition reflects OpenAI’s continued expansion beyond conversational AI and into tools designed to help users create, communicate and produce professional content.
