Notion Restores Anthropic AI Services Following Temporary Disruption

Last Updated: June 8, 2026By

Notion has restored access to Anthropic’s artificial intelligence models after a temporary service disruption affected users of its AI-powered productivity platform over the weekend.

The incident initially raised concerns among users who experienced increased failures when attempting to access certain Anthropic models through Notion AI.

The company reported early Sunday that Anthropic’s latest Opus models were experiencing degraded performance, leading to a higher-than-normal rate of failures for users.

As a precautionary measure, Notion temporarily disabled access to all Anthropic models integrated into its platform.

The decision sparked widespread discussion across social media, with many users speculating about potential issues related to the quality of the models themselves.
However, Notion executives quickly clarified that the interruption was purely technical in nature.

Notion’s Head of Product, Max Schoening, expressed surprise at the level of attention the issue received online, emphasizing that service disruptions are common across the technology industry.

He noted that similar incidents can affect major platforms and infrastructure providers from time to time.

According to Schoening, the disruption was temporary and was resolved within hours, allowing the company to fully restore access to Anthropic’s models.

He stressed that the event should not be interpreted as a reflection of the models’ capabilities or reliability.

Anthropic also confirmed that a brief infrastructure issue had caused elevated error rates across multiple Claude models.

The company stated that the problem has since been resolved and thanked users for their patience while services were being restored.
