Meta’s new artificial intelligence application, Muse, has quickly climbed the US App Store rankings following its launch, reaching the second position among the platform’s top applications. 

Early figures from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower indicate that the app has recorded more than 83,000 downloads on iOS in the United States, where it is currently available.

Although the performance places Muse near the top of the App Store, its initial launch numbers are lower than those recorded by some of Meta’s previous applications. 

Threads, for example, generated millions of downloads in the United States shortly after its launch, while the Meta AI application recorded more than 100,000 downloads on its debut. 

Muse has also lagged behind the early performance recorded by ChatGPT.

The slower start does not necessarily indicate weak demand. Muse has continued to climb the App Store rankings since its release, moving from fourth position to second. 

Its Android performance has been more modest, however, while figures from its web and WhatsApp versions are not included in the available download estimates.

Meta is positioning Muse as part of its growing investment in AI agents capable of performing tasks on behalf of users. 

The company faces increasing competition from other AI developers pursuing similar technology, with rival services focusing on areas such as personal assistance, work management, communication and everyday tasks.

Privacy and trust could nevertheless influence Muse’s adoption because the service requires users to provide Meta with personal information. 

The app’s launch also comes amid continuing scrutiny of Meta over privacy and social media practices. 

Its performance in the coming months will therefore provide an important indication of whether consumers are willing to embrace AI agents from major technology companies.
