Life360 is expanding its pet tracking business with a new range of affordable identification tags and additional features designed to help families care for their animals.

The company has introduced scannable pet tags priced at $7.99, alongside new tools that connect pet identification with its existing location and family safety platform.

The company entered the pet technology market with GPS tracking devices that use technology associated with its Tile acquisition.

Since then, millions of pets have reportedly been added to Life360 accounts as families use the platform to keep track of animals as well as everyday belongings such as keys, luggage and handbags.

The new tags are aimed at owners who do not necessarily want to place a larger GPS device on their pet’s collar. Each tag contains a QR code that can be scanned by someone who finds a missing animal.

The scan can provide the owner’s contact information and also send an alert through the Life360 application, allowing the family to know that the pet has been located.

Life360 is also adding features designed to make everyday pet care easier for households. Families can use care logs to keep track of feeding, walks, medication and other responsibilities.

The system allows multiple members of a household to see what tasks have already been completed, reducing the possibility of important routines being missed.

The company has also introduced Zoomies Alerts, which can identify periods when pets experience bursts of activity, as well as a weekly summary showing information such as walking distance and which family members carried out the most care activities.

Life360 is additionally making its GPS trackers available through lower priced subscription packages, expanding access to its pet monitoring services in several international markets.
