Ford Turns to Experienced Engineers to Improve Vehicle Quality
Ford Motor Company has strengthened its engineering workforce by bringing back approximately 350 experienced specialists after determining that artificial intelligence alone could not consistently achieve the level of quality required in vehicle development.
Company executives explained that while automated systems improved efficiency in some areas, they were not always effective at identifying complex manufacturing and design issues before production began.
Many of the returning professionals are former Ford employees or experts from supplier companies with decades of practical experience.
Their primary responsibility is to detect potential weaknesses in vehicle components before they reach the assembly line, reducing the likelihood of costly defects, warranty claims, and product recalls.
Company leaders believe their knowledge complements the capabilities of modern digital technologies.
Ford emphasized that the decision does not represent a rejection of artificial intelligence. Instead, the company intends to combine human expertise with AI-powered tools to achieve better results.
Veteran engineers will also play an important role in mentoring younger employees and helping improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the company’s AI systems through practical engineering knowledge.
The strategy is already producing encouraging results. Ford reports lower warranty and recall expenses while also achieving higher product quality ratings.
