Apple has unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, alongside the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at its September 9 launch event.

The iPhone Duo opens into a 7.6-inch display and features a 5.4-inch outer screen. It is powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip and supports Apple Pencil.

Starting at $1,999, the foldable iPhone becomes Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet. The device is expected to be available from October 23.

Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with upgraded cameras, improved battery performance and the new A20 Pro processor.

The Pro models feature a new 48-megapixel main camera with variable aperture, giving users greater control over light and depth when taking photos and recording videos.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the Pro Max starts at $1,299. Pre-orders begin September 12, with sales starting September 18.

The launch also places greater emphasis on Apple Intelligence, with the new iPhones running iOS 27 and receiving expanded AI-powered features.

Notably, Apple did not unveil the standard iPhone 18 during the event. Reports indicate that the regular model and other additions could arrive in 2027.

The foldable launch puts Apple directly into competition with companies such as Samsung and Huawei, which have already established products in the foldable smartphone market.

With its first foldable device and upgraded Pro models, Apple is betting on premium hardware, artificial intelligence and new form factors to drive the next phase of its smartphone business.
