Amazon Projects AWS Could Become $1 Trillion Business

Last Updated: November 3, 2026By

Amazon Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy has expressed confidence that Amazon Web Services could eventually become a business generating $1 trillion in annual revenue.

The announcement came during the company’s quarterly earnings call, where Jassy discussed the future of cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

AWS has continued to experience strong growth, with revenue increasing by 39% compared with the same period last year.

The company reported an annualized revenue run rate of approximately $184 billion, demonstrating the growing demand for cloud computing services.

However, Amazon plans to significantly increase its spending to support this expansion.

Jassy said the company expects capital expenditures of approximately $220 billion in 2026, with most of the investment directed toward AWS infrastructure.

The spending is intended to build additional data centres, expand computing capacity and support businesses increasingly relying on artificial intelligence.

Amazon believes that growing demand for AI services will create substantial opportunities for its cloud business.

Jassy expects AWS to maintain strong growth in the coming years and potentially reach the trillion-dollar revenue milestone within five to ten years.
However, investors remain focused on whether the company’s massive infrastructure investments will translate into sustainable profitability.
