AI Generated Music Surges as Streaming Platforms Struggle with Authenticity
Music streaming platform Deezer has revealed that nearly 44% of all tracks uploaded daily are now generated using artificial intelligence, highlighting a dramatic shift in the digital music landscape. The company reports receiving approximately 75,000 AI-generated songs each day.
Despite the surge in uploads, listener engagement with AI-generated music remains relatively low, accounting for just 1 to 3% of total streams. Deezer also indicated that a significant portion of these streams, around 85%, are flagged as fraudulent and subsequently demonetized under its content policies.
The rise in AI music production has accelerated rapidly over the past year, with daily uploads increasing from just 10,000 in early 2025. In response, Deezer has implemented stricter measures, including removing AI tracks from algorithmic recommendations and excluding them from curated playlists.
The trend comes amid growing industry concerns about transparency and artist rights. Recent surveys suggest that most listeners struggle to distinguish between AI-generated and human-created music, fueling debates over labeling standards and the role of artificial intelligence in creative industries.
