India’s EloElo Raises $80 Million from NBCUniversal to Expand Micro-drama Business
Indian entertainment startup EloElo has raised $80 million in a Series C funding round led by Hornbill Capital and NBCUniversal as it seeks to expand its micro-drama business. The investment values the company at approximately $500 million and brings its total funding to $130 million. The development highlights growing investor interest in short-form, mobile-based entertainment.
EloElo operates Story TV, a platform that provides serialized video dramas designed for smartphone users. The company has reportedly attracted more than 33 million monthly active users on Story TV, benefiting from the growing popularity of short, episodic entertainment in India.
The microdrama industry is expanding rapidly as consumers increasingly watch entertainment content through mobile devices. Industry analysts estimate that the market could generate between $3 billion and $4 billion in annual revenue by 2030, creating opportunities for platforms, advertisers and content producers.
EloElo plans to use the funding to produce more original content, strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities and expand its workforce. The company is also developing tools to help creators produce videos and marketing materials more efficiently.
The investment signals growing confidence in India’s digital entertainment market, where a large internet population and increasing smartphone usage are creating new business opportunities. EloElo’s challenge will be converting its expanding audience into sustainable revenue through subscriptions, advertising and other commercial partnerships.
