KPMG Withdraws AI Report Following Allegations of Inaccurate Information
Global professional services firm KPMG has withdrawn a report on artificial intelligence after several organizations disputed claims made about their use of AI technologies.
The report, titled Redefining Excellence in the Age of Agentic AI, was originally published in October 2025.
The controversy emerged after research organization GPTZero identified multiple inaccuracies within the document.
According to the group, several statements appeared to be the result of AI-generated hallucinations, where artificial intelligence systems produce information that is incorrect or unsupported by evidence.
A number of prominent organizations, including UBS, the United Kingdom’s National Health Service, Swiss Federal Railways, and Transport for London, reportedly challenged descriptions of their AI activities contained in the report. Some organizations stated that the information was either inaccurate or misleading.
In response, KPMG removed the publication from its platforms and launched an internal review to determine how the errors occurred.
The firm emphasized that employees are expected to follow strict guidelines regarding the responsible use of artificial intelligence and the verification of information.
A spokesperson for KPMG reiterated the importance of human oversight when using AI-generated content, stressing that independent validation and fact-checking remain essential components of the company’s reporting standards.
The incident highlights growing concerns about the reliability of AI-generated content in professional environments.
It also follows a similar case involving EY, which recently withdrew a separate report after questions were raised about fabricated references and AI-related inaccuracies.
