Apple Prepares Privacy Focused Siri Upgrade With Chat Auto Delete Feature
Apple is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of Siri, with privacy expected to take center stage during the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference scheduled for June.
According to reports from Bloomberg, the technology giant intends to present the upgraded Siri as a more secure and privacy conscious alternative to competing artificial intelligence platforms currently dominating the market.
The upcoming Siri revamp is viewed as Apple’s attempt to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI industry.
Company executives are expected to argue that Apple’s approach differs from many other AI firms by prioritizing the protection of users’ personal information and limiting data retention practices.
Reports indicate that Apple may introduce its first standalone Siri application powered by Google Gemini technology.
The platform is expected to offer users a chatbot experience similar to ChatGPT while still maintaining stricter privacy controls than many rival AI systems currently available.
One of the anticipated features includes automatic deletion of conversations after a selected period. Similar to settings already available in Apple’s Messages application, users may reportedly have the option to erase chats after 30 days, one year, or choose to keep conversations indefinitely depending on their preferences.
Industry analysts believe Apple’s strong emphasis on privacy may also be part of a broader strategy to distinguish Siri from competing AI assistants that have gained popularity in recent years. Some observers, however, argue that the focus on security could also draw attention away from limitations in Siri’s current capabilities compared to rival AI products.
Despite the privacy assurances, reports suggest that Google’s Gemini technology will still play a significant role in powering parts of the new Siri experience, raising questions about how much control Apple will ultimately maintain over user data and security protections.
