Tesla Expands Robotaxi Operations to Two Major Texas Cities
Tesla has announced the expansion of its robotaxi services to Dallas and Houston, marking a significant step in the company’s broader push into autonomous ride-hailing. The update was shared via social media, accompanied by a short video showing Tesla vehicles operating without human drivers or front-seat monitors.
With this rollout, Tesla now operates robotaxi services in three Texas cities, having previously launched in Austin. The company began offering fully driverless rides in Austin earlier this year, though regulatory filings revealed that the service has recorded 14 incidents since its debut.
In addition to its Texas operations, Tesla maintains a limited ride-hailing service in the San Francisco Bay Area, where human drivers remain behind the wheel. However, early data suggests that the company’s presence in Dallas and Houston is still minimal, with only a handful of vehicles reportedly active in each location.
Industry observers note that while Tesla continues to push the boundaries of autonomous driving, the scale and safety performance of its robotaxi network will be critical factors in determining long-term adoption and regulatory approval.
