Thousands of users reported disruptions on Monday from the X platform, calling on Elon Musk to “fix it.”

Around 5:30 a.m. ET, X experienced a disruption for a portion of its users, as reported by Downdetector, a website that monitors user reports of online outages.

More than 20,000 users reported the outage. Although the outages appeared to have been resolved after approximately an hour, they recurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. ET, with over 40,000 users reporting issues.

Despite the fact that some users were able to intermittently access X, the issues persisted beyond 1:30 PM ET.

The occasional outage is a common occurrence for platforms of this scale, but it is never expedient for their users, as one user bemoaned in the comments on Downdetector. “On day 1 of the NFL free agency!?” ELON, resolve this matter.

Elon Musk announced that the platform was experiencing a “massive cyberattack” after approximately eight hours of disruptions.

“There was (and continues to be) a tremendous cyberattack against 𝕏.” We are subjected to daily attacks; however, this was accomplished with an extensive amount of resources. It is either a country or a large, coordinated group that is involved. He wrote on X, “Tracing…”

Musk stated in a live interview with Fox News on Monday that the alleged cyberattack against X appeared to originate from IP addresses in the Ukraine region.

Musk’s assertions are not supported by any evidence beyond his word; however, it is not unreasonable to anticipate that his platform could be susceptible to cyberattacks.

Under President Donald Trump’s second administration, Musk has become more prominent and controversial than ever, as he has personally led his team, designated as “DOGE,” through arbitrary cuts to government funding, employment, and international aid programs.
