YouTube Rolls Out Long-Awaited Apple Vision Pro App
After a prolonged wait, YouTube has officially launched a dedicated app for the Apple Vision Pro, ending its reliance on a browser-based viewing experience.
When Apple’s headset debuted, YouTube opted not to build a native app, directing users to access content through Safari instead.
This approach limited functionality, excluding features such as offline downloads and immersive viewing options.
The new app delivers a fully immersive experience, allowing users to watch standard videos and Shorts on a virtual theater-sized screen.
A dedicated Spatial tab enables access to 3D, VR180, and 360-degree videos, expanding the platform’s immersive content offering.
For newer Vision Pro models powered by Apple’s M5 chip, the app supports 8K video playback.
Users can also navigate content using intuitive gesture controls, including resizing screens and scrubbing through videos.
The launch comes at a time when enthusiasm around the headset has cooled, with reports indicating slowing sales and reduced production.
Still, YouTube’s arrival strengthens the Vision Pro ecosystem and brings it closer in line with rival streaming platforms already offering native apps.
