TikTok Disruption in the U.S. Linked to Second Data Center Outage

Last Updated: March 4, 2026By

Some TikTok users across the United States experienced service disruptions following a technical issue linked to a major cloud data center.

The company said the outage caused delays in content uploads and other platform functions for creators.

User reports indicated the problem began early in the morning and persisted for several hours.

The disruption coincided with a broader infrastructure issue affecting a cloud services provider responsible for managing TikTok’s U.S. user data.

The affected data centers play a key role in TikTok’s U.S. operations following a restructuring designed to comply with national security requirements.

Under the arrangement, the American version of TikTok operates through a joint venture with majority ownership held by U.S. investors.

This marks the second major service disruption tied to the same cloud provider since the restructuring was finalized earlier this year.

A previous outage shortly after the deal closed was attributed to severe winter weather affecting a data facility.

The cloud provider has not yet confirmed the root cause of the latest outage, raising renewed concerns about the reliability of infrastructure supporting one of the country’s most widely used social media platforms.
