Threads Unveils New Tools to Attract Podcasters and Spark Show Conversations

Meta’s social platform, Threads, is making a strategic shift toward the podcasting community by introducing new features aimed at encouraging conversations around podcast shows and helping creators promote their work.

The company announced on Tuesday that it intends for Threads to become a central hub where listeners and creators can discuss podcast episodes in real time.

To support this goal, Threads will begin rolling out distinctive visual enhancements for podcast links shared within the feed. These links will now appear with bold, colorful backgrounds and thumbnail images, making them more noticeable during scrolling.

In addition, podcasters will be able to add a dedicated podcast link directly to their profile. This new section is designed to stand out, giving creators a clearer and more effective way to highlight their shows and attract new audiences.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed that more podcast-focused features will be introduced in the coming year as the company deepens its investment in building community-based interaction around audio content.

Meta believes podcasts naturally inspire conversation, cultural commentary, and community engagement—elements Threads hopes to harness as it continues to grow.

While the platform currently records over 400 million monthly active users and 150 million daily users, it is still trailing behind rival platform X, which claims around 600 million monthly users.

By appealing to the large and highly engaged podcast community, Threads aims to close part of that gap.

Despite this push, Meta clarified that Threads does not plan to become a podcast hosting or distribution platform.

Instead, its focus will be on enhancing conversation, offering creators insights into engagement trends, and aiding users in discovering new shows based on what people are discussing.

This move follows previous creator-focused updates rolled out by Threads earlier in the year, including options to add multiple external links to profiles and the introduction of longer text attachment features for deeper expression.

Users can expect more updates centered around podcast discussions in the coming months as Threads continues refining its identity within the social media landscape.
