Stellantis Recalls 123,000 U.S. Vehicles Over Detached Trim Risk

Last Updated: September 28, 2025By

Stellantis has issued a recall for 123,396 vehicles in the U.S. due to a safety hazard involving detached trim pieces on the driver and passenger windows. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the quarter trim on certain Chrysler Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer vehicles may not have been properly secured during production. This defect increases the likelihood that the trim could detach while driving, posing a potential road hazard to other vehicles and increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall affects certain 2022-2024 model year Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The issue could lead to trim pieces becoming loose and potentially obstructing visibility or causing debris on the road. Stellantis is actively working on a solution, with a remedy currently under development, although the automaker has not yet announced when repairs will begin.

Affected vehicle owners will be notified once a fix is available.
This is not the first recall related to this issue. Earlier this month, Stellantis had to recall another 164,000 U.S. vehicles due to a similar problem involving trim pieces on the driver and passenger doors. In that case, the potential for the trim to detach also posed a hazard, though the recall was limited to different vehicle models. These ongoing issues underscore the challenges Stellantis faces in ensuring the quality and safety of its vehicles, especially in its popular Jeep lineup.

The NHTSA’s intervention highlights the severity of the defect, and the recall follows an increasing trend of automakers having to address manufacturing flaws that could endanger consumers. While the recall itself is a precautionary measure, it adds to Stellantis’ mounting costs, particularly as the company deals with rising vehicle safety concerns across the industry. The automaker has not yet reported any incidents or injuries related to this specific issue, but safety officials have stressed that the recall is being carried out proactively.

Consumers who own affected vehicles are encouraged to stay in touch with their local dealerships for updates regarding the recall. In the meantime, Stellantis will continue its investigation into the root causes of the issue and explore how to prevent similar problems in future vehicle models. This move reflects the industry’s growing commitment to customer safety and proactive solutions to defects.
