Samsung is nearing an investment in Perplexity, an AI search startup, media reports.

The investment would also result in the Korean tech titan integrating Perplexity’s technology into its devices.

Samsung is engaged in discussions regarding the pre-installation of Perplexity’s app and assistant on its smartphones and the integration of its search capabilities into the default browser, according to the report.

Samsung is one of the largest investors in the AI company’s most recent fundraising round.

Bloomberg also reported that the companies are in the process of discussing the possibility of utilizing Perplexity’s AI technology to fuel certain features of Samsung’s own assistant, Bixby.

The partnership could be unveiled this year.

Bloomberg reported in May that Perplexity is in the process of financing a $500 million round at a $14 billion valuation.

Samsung is not the sole entity seeking to incorporate Perplexity features.

In April, Motorola announced a partnership with Perplexity to power AI features, and Bloomberg previously reported that Apple has considered adding Perplexity as a search engine option to Safari.
