An application that assesses the viability of fruit in the manner of an experienced farmer has been developed by three students from Caleb University.

The application enables users, particularly local producers and vendors, to evaluate the condition of fruit in real time using a smartphone, utilizing computer vision and AI.

At a time when post-harvest losses and food waste are significant issues in Africa, the innovation is timely.

Their work serves as a reminder that Africa’s classrooms may be the source of its next significant technological advancements.
