Netflix Films Dominate Oscars With Multiple Awards
Streaming giant Netflix achieved another major milestone at the Academy Awards as two of its films secured multiple Oscar victories during this year’s ceremony. Director Guillermo del Toro’s film “Frankenstein” won three awards, including Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
The animated feature “KPop Demon Hunters” also delivered a strong performance at the awards, taking home the Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. The film has become one of Netflix’s most successful releases and has drawn significant global attention since its debut.
Over the past several years, streaming platforms have steadily strengthened their presence at the Oscars. Films such as “Roma,” “The Power of the Dog,” and “All Quiet on the Western Front” have previously secured major awards for streaming services, highlighting how digital platforms are reshaping the film industry.
Despite the wins, Netflix has yet to secure the Academy Award for Best Picture. The only streaming film to win the category so far remains Apple’s “CODA,” which triumphed during the pandemic era when theaters were largely closed.
This year’s Best Picture award ultimately went to the film “One Battle After Another,” although several streaming backed projects were nominated.
The results demonstrate both the growing influence of streaming studios and the continued competition between traditional cinema and digital platforms.
