Google Launches Offline AI Dictation App to Rival Competitors
Google has quietly introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered dictation application designed to function without an internet connection.
The app, known as “Google AI Edge Eloquent,” is currently available on iOS devices and is positioned to compete with other transcription tools in the growing speech-to-text market.
The application allows users to dictate speech directly into their devices after downloading its built-in speech recognition models.
It provides real-time transcription and automatically refines spoken words by removing filler expressions such as pauses and verbal hesitations.
Users can also transform their text into various formats, including summaries, formal versions, or extended content.
In addition to its offline capability, the app offers an optional cloud-based mode that enhances text processing using advanced AI models.
It can also integrate with user data to recognize specific words, names, and technical terms, while allowing manual customization for improved accuracy.
The tool keeps a record of past transcription sessions and enables users to search through them. It also tracks speaking speed and word count, offering insights into user performance.
Although currently limited to iOS, indications suggest an Android version is in development, potentially expanding its accessibility across devices.
