Google Expands Virtual Try-On Feature to More Countries, Adds Shoe Option for Shoppers

Last Updated: October 9, 2025By

In a move to enhance online shopping experiences, Google has expanded its AI-powered virtual try-on tool to new regions, including Australia, Canada, and Japan.

The latest update also introduces an exciting addition — users can now virtually try on shoes before making a purchase.

The innovative feature allows shoppers to upload a full-length photo and visualize how various items of clothing or footwear would appear on them in real life.

To try it out, users simply tap on a product listing via Google, select the “Try It On” option, and upload their image.

  • Within seconds, the system generates a realistic view of how the selected shoes fit on their virtual self. The images can also be saved or shared for opinions from friends or family.

This new addition comes just two months after Google rolled out the virtual clothing try-on feature, which allowed users to see apparel on AI-generated models that resembled their body type. Unlike previous tools that showcased clothes on preset body shapes, the updated version personalizes the experience, enabling users to try outfits on a digital replica of their own body.

Google’s growing interest in virtual fashion technology doesn’t stop there. Earlier this year, the company introduced an experimental app named Doppl, designed to help users explore outfit combinations and curate their personal style. Powered by the same generative AI engine, Doppl even creates AI-generated videos to simulate how garments move and look in real life.

With this expansion, Google continues to compete in a rapidly evolving retail technology space, where giants like Amazon and Walmart have also developed similar virtual try-on experiences.

The update reflects Google’s ongoing commitment to making online shopping more interactive, personalized, and confidence-driven, helping users make better-informed fashion choices from the comfort of their devices.
