Ganiga to Unveil AI-Powered Waste-Sorting Robots at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025
Italian startup Ganiga Innovation is set to make waves at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, showcasing its revolutionary AI-driven robotic waste management systems designed to tackle the global recycling crisis. The event will take place from October 27 to 30 in San Francisco.
Despite the environmental benefits of recycling, reports indicate that less than 10 percent of the world’s plastic waste is recycled. Determined to change that, Ganiga has developed a suite of intelligent products that use artificial intelligence and robotics to identify, sort, and manage waste efficiently.
At the forefront of these innovations is Hoooly, a fleet of robotic bins equipped with generative AI capable of distinguishing between recyclable and non-recyclable materials. Complementing Hoooly is a smart lid that can be fitted onto existing waste bins, providing the same intelligent sorting capabilities.
Beyond hardware, Ganiga also offers a waste analytics software that helps companies monitor their waste output, offering actionable insights and strategies to reduce production waste and align with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance goals.
Nicolas Zeoli, Founder and CEO of Ganiga, said his inspiration stemmed from observing Italy’s persistent waste management challenges.
Founded in 2021, Ganiga built its first prototype a year later and began commercial sales in 2024. Since then, the company has sold over 120 robotic bins to major clients, including Google and several international airports in Bologna, Venice, and Madrid.
Financially, Ganiga reported $500,000 in revenue for 2024, and has already reached $750,000 within the first nine months of 2025. The company has secured $1.5 million in pre-seed funding from investors such as NextSTEP and Next Energy Capital, and is currently pursuing a $3 million seed round to accelerate expansion.
Looking ahead, Ganiga is preparing to launch Hooolyfood, a new AI-powered software in November 2025 that analyzes food waste using image data. The startup aims to further develop software products based on insights collected from its smart bins and waste monitoring systems.
While its current focus remains on European markets, Zeoli revealed plans to expand into the United States, with potential relocation of Ganiga’s headquarters by 2026.
Participants at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025 will have the opportunity to see Ganiga’s technology in action during the Startup Battlefield competition, where innovators from around the globe will present groundbreaking ideas shaping the future of technology and sustainability.
