Fuel Distribution: 4000 CNG Trucks are Received by Dangote

Last Updated: August 12, 2025By

For its fuel distribution logistics program, which is scheduled to begin on August 15, Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals reports that it has begun receiving 4,000 trucks powered by compressed natural gas.

According to a statement released by the company on Sunday, the initiative’s goal was to improve supply efficiency for consumers and lower logistics costs in order to revolutionize the petroleum distribution market in Nigeria.

An estimated N720 billion has been invested in the fleet of petroleum tankers that are imported through Apapa Port.

As the largest single-train refinery in the world grows its operating capabilities, this investment demonstrates the company’s dedication to leading the way in creative solutions.

The Vice-President of Oil and Gas of Dangote Industries Ltd., Devakumar Edwin, officially received the first shipment of trucks at the refinery site in Ibeju-Lekki after it recently left Apapa Port.

Both refinery staff and consumers welcomed the visit with enthusiasm, with many in attendance to see the real progress made toward better gasoline accessibility, the statement said in part.

Speaking, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief of Branding and Communication at Dangote Industries Limited, stated that the initiative’s launch represented a revolutionary advancement in Nigeria’s petroleum distribution system.

“It is quite admirable that these specialized CNG-powered tankers are being delivered, especially considering the complexity of global supply lines. By taking this method, we can scale up the fleet while maintaining operating efficiency.
“Our continuous cooperation with important regulatory agencies and stakeholders to enable smooth deployment demonstrates our steadfast commitment to this endeavor. We are confident that this strategy will increase fuel availability for our consumers across the country and drastically reduce distribution costs,” Chiejina said.

The refinery anticipates receiving at least 60 shiploads of these trucks in the country during the course of the next six weeks, he added.
“It is anticipated that this novel distribution model will spur efficiency improvements throughout Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry, promoting increased transparency, lowering transportation bottlenecks, and ultimately improving the country’s energy security,” he continued.
The Dangote refinery announced in June that it would use 4,000 CNG trucks to distribute petroleum products throughout Nigeria.

According to the firm, this ambitious scheme is expected to save Nigerians more than N1.7 trillion a year in fuel distribution expenses.
It is anticipated that by reducing energy costs and increasing profitability, the program will greatly benefit more than 42 million Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Businesses.

Dangote’s larger commitment to removing logistics bottlenecks, improving energy efficiency, advancing environmental sustainability, and aiding Nigeria’s economic development is reflected in this strategic program.

Reducing the cost of fuel delivery will lower manufacturing costs, ease inflationary pressures, and promote economic expansion in general.
