FCMB Partners with IFC to Support Nigerian Women Entrepreneurs Through Goldman Sachs Initiative

Last Updated: August 14, 2025By

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has partnered with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to introduce the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women programme in Nigeria.

This initiative is set to provide female entrepreneurs with business education, mentorship, and growth opportunities.

The 10,000 Women initiative, a global project by Goldman Sachs, offers practical business training and networking support to help women scale their enterprises.

Since its launch, the programme has empowered over 200,000 entrepreneurs worldwide.

Delivered in collaboration with the University of Leeds, the 10,000 Women Online program provides free access to 10 business courses and membership in an alumni network for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

FCMB’s “SheVentures” initiative, which has supported Nigerian women entrepreneurs for five years, complements this effort.

Through SheVentures, the bank has disbursed zero-interest loans worth N800 million and provided training and mentorship to thousands of women-led businesses.

George Ogbonnaya, FCMB’s Divisional Head of Business Banking, stated:  “This partnership advances gender equality in entrepreneurship and promotes sustainable economic growth.”

Applications for the 10,000 Women Online program are open from August 1 to August 31, 2025, for both new and existing women-led businesses across Nigeria.

The initiative aligns with FCMB and IFC’s commitment to fostering inclusive growth and strengthening Nigeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
