Dangote Refinery to Become World’s Largest With Massive Capacity Expansion to 1.4 Million Barrels
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a major expansion plan that will see its processing capacity nearly double, solidifying its position as a global leader in the refining industry.
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, revealed at a briefing in Lagos that the facility’s capacity will be expanded from its current 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) to an unprecedented 1.4 million bpd.
“We are expanding the Dangote Petroleum Refinery from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day,”
Dangote stated. “Upon completion, this will make it the largest refinery in the world, surpassing the Jamnagar Refinery in India.”
Construction work for the ambitious expansion is scheduled to begin immediately, marking a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s energy sector.
