ChatGPT Tests New Feature Known As “Study Together”

Last Updated: July 7, 2025By Tags: , ,

Some ChatGPT subscribers have reported the appearance of a new feature in their drop-down list of available tools- “Study Together.”

It appears that the automaton is utilizing the mode as a means of improving its pedagogical capabilities.

Similar to OpenAI’s response to Google’s LearnLM, some contend that it poses additional inquiries and necessitates human responses, rather than providing responses to queries.

Additionally, there are those who question whether it will include a study group mode in which multiple individuals can participate in the conversation. OpenAI did not respond to our request for comment.

However, ChatGPT informed us that “OpenAI has not officially announced when or if Study Together will be available to all users—or if it will require ChatGPT Plus.”

The feature is intriguing due to the fact that ChatGPT has rapidly established itself as a staple in the field of education, in both beneficial and detrimental ways.

Teachers are employing it to develop lesson plans, while students can utilize it as a tutor or to have it compose their papers.

Some have even suggested that ChatGPT may be “killing” higher education.

This could be a method for ChatGPT to promote the positive uses of the platform while discouraging “cheating.”
