Canadian billionaire says AI is creating opportunities beyond layoffs
Canadian investor and television personality, Kevin O’Leary, has pushed back against the idea that artificial intelligence is only responsible for job losses.
Speaking in a post on social media platform , O’Leary said AI is actually unlocking major business opportunities, particularly in content creation and marketing.
He explained that companies typically spend up to about 15% of their revenue on marketing and customer acquisition.
According to him, AI tools are becoming valuable because they help businesses create content, maintain customer relationships, and attract new customers more efficiently.
O’Leary also noted that the modern economy is shifting toward independent creative work.
He stated that some creatives are now able to earn very high incomes, sometimes reaching six-figure or even half-million-dollar annual earnings, by using AI tools to deliver commercial value rather than relying on traditional employment structures.
While he is optimistic about AI-driven productivity growth, O’Leary warned about infrastructure challenges that could limit AI expansion.
He highlighted electricity supply as a major concern, arguing that large-scale AI development requires massive power capacity to support data centers running continuously.
