AWS Unveils AI-Powered Platform to Streamline Healthcare Operations

Last Updated: March 6, 2026By

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced a new artificial intelligence–driven platform aimed at improving efficiency within the healthcare sector. The platform, known as Amazon Connect Health, is designed to assist healthcare providers in automating repetitive administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient verification, and clinical documentation. Built to meet healthcare data protection standards, the platform is HIPAA-eligible and integrates with electronic health record systems used by hospitals and clinics.

The new solution also connects with various healthcare technology providers, including electronic health record vendors, patient engagement platforms, and data integration services. According to the company, the system works alongside existing clinical software to help manage workflows such as medical history reviews, coding, and documentation processes. Initial features include patient verification and automated documentation, while appointment scheduling and patient insights are currently in preview.

AWS noted that additional capabilities such as automated medical coding will be introduced gradually. The service is priced at 99 dollars per user monthly and supports up to 600 patient encounters each month, a capacity the company says exceeds the typical workload of most primary care physicians.

The launch represents a continuation of Amazon’s broader push into healthcare technology. Over the past several years, the company has released tools such as Amazon Comprehend Medical for analyzing medical data, Amazon HealthLake for organizing healthcare records, and HealthOmics for bioinformatics workflows. Amazon has also expanded through acquisitions, including online pharmacy PillPack and primary care provider One Medical.

Industry analysts say the growing use of artificial intelligence in healthcare administration reflects efforts to reduce paperwork and operational pressure on medical professionals. Several startups and major technology companies are now competing to develop solutions that automate tasks such as note-taking, scheduling, and patient data analysis.
