Apple Set to Reveal Gemini-Enhanced Siri in February, Report Says
Apple is preparing to unveil a significantly upgraded version of Siri powered by Google’s Gemini AI models, according to a report from Bloomberg.
The announcement is expected in the second half of February and will mark the first visible outcome of Apple’s recently disclosed partnership with Google on artificial intelligence.
The updated Siri is expected to deliver more advanced task completion by accessing users’ personal data and on-screen content, fulfilling promises Apple made during its June 2024 developer event.
This release is reportedly an early step ahead of a larger overhaul planned for Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference later in the year.
The more advanced version, expected in June, could introduce a conversational assistant comparable to leading AI chatbots and may operate directly through Google’s cloud infrastructure. Such a move would represent a notable shift in Apple’s traditionally closed ecosystem approach.
Apple’s AI strategy has faced internal and external criticism in recent months, including leadership changes and delays in product execution.
However, the partnership with Google and the departure of Apple’s former AI chief suggest a strategic reset aimed at regaining momentum.
If successful, the Gemini-powered Siri could reposition Apple in the rapidly evolving AI assistant market, signaling a more collaborative and aggressive stance in competing with established AI platforms.
