Apple Moves Closer to Smart Glasses Launch with Multiple Designs in Testing
Apple Inc. is advancing its long-awaited smart glasses project, with a potential release targeted for 2027. According to Mark Gurman, the company could unveil the product as early as the end of this year as it refines its wearable technology roadmap.
The company is reportedly testing four design variations, including large and slim rectangular frames, as well as both large and smaller oval or circular styles.
Some of the slimmer designs are said to resemble eyewear commonly worn by CEO Tim Cook, with color options under consideration such as black, ocean blue, and light brown.
Unlike Apple’s earlier ambitions around mixed and augmented reality devices, the smart glasses are expected to take a more practical direction.
This shift follows challenges faced by previous products, including delays and a lukewarm reception to the Vision Pro headset.
The upcoming device is expected to offer features such as photo and video capture, music playback, call handling, and integration with an improved version of Siri.
However, it is not expected to include a display, signaling a simpler and more user-friendly design approach.
