Anthropic Targets $20 Billion Fundraise Amid Surging Investor Demand
Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has reportedly doubled the size of its latest fundraising round, increasing its target from $10 billion to $20 billion. According to the Financial Times, the round is expected to value the company at approximately $350 billion, reflecting growing investor confidence in the AI sector.
The increased fundraising target comes amid strong demand from institutional investors, with potential backers reportedly including Sequoia Capital, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund and investment firm Coatue. Anthropic is best known for its Claude AI models and developer-focused tools such as Claude Code.
The company’s rapid rise has placed it among the most valuable private technology firms globally. In September, Anthropic announced a $13 billion funding round that valued the company at $183 billion, solidifying its position as a major competitor in the AI landscape.
Reports late last year also suggested that Anthropic had begun preparing for a potential initial public offering by engaging legal advisors. While no official timeline has been announced, market speculation indicates an IPO could take place as early as this year.
If completed, the expanded funding round would mark one of the largest capital raises in technology history, underscoring the intense investor interest surrounding generative AI and enterprise-focused artificial intelligence platforms.
