Airtel Africa has announced a partnership with SpaceX, the company founded by Elon Musk, to provide its clients throughout the continent with Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet services.
The objective of the partnership is to improve digital connectivity, particularly in underserved and remote regions, by incorporating Starlink’s technology into Airtel’s infrastructure.
A comprehensive reach across Airtel’s operational footprint is guaranteed by the acquisition of licenses in nine countries, with the remaining five currently in the process of being processed.
The partnership will also investigate opportunities for cellular backhauling and other initiatives to promote digital inclusion.
Airtel’s objective is to address conventional infrastructure constraints and extend dependable internet connectivity to a greater number of communities through the utilization of satellite technology.
This action is consistent with Airtel’s dedication to the development of Africa’s digital economy through strategic investments and partnerships.
It is anticipated that the integration of Starlink’s services will substantially increase internet penetration and facilitate economic development throughout the continent.
