Binance Resumes Withdrawals Following $6.3 Billion Breach

Last Updated: November 2, 2026By

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has begun restoring withdrawals in phases after a major security breach involving approximately $6.3 billion in stolen digital assets.

The exchange had temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while it assessed the incident and secured affected services.

Binance says it has replenished about 95% of the impacted assets and is working to source the remaining portion.

The company explained that the outstanding assets are less liquid and therefore take longer to obtain at the required scale.

The exchange has stated that it will absorb the financial impact of the stolen funds rather than passing the losses on to customers.

It says user balances remain backed and that the recovery process is continuing.

Withdrawals are being restored gradually according to the cryptocurrency network and asset involved.

Some services may remain partially or fully suspended while security checks and operational reviews are completed, and users may experience delays due to high traffic.

TechCrunch reported that the FBI attributed the breach to the North Korean-linked group TraderTraitor. Binance says it will publish a more detailed incident report after its investigation is complete.

The incident highlights the importance of security, transparency and contingency planning in digital-asset platforms.
