Nigeria’s Solid Minerals Sector Generates N101 Billion in Nine Months
Nigeria’s solid minerals industry generated N101.11 billion in revenue between January and September 2026, representing a substantial increase from the N51.79 billion recorded during the same period in 2025.
The revenue growth reflects improved earnings from mineral royalties and other government collections within the sector.
The development is significant as Nigeria continues to pursue strategies aimed at diversifying its economy and reducing its dependence on crude oil revenue.
Despite the increase in earnings, the industry still faces challenges relating to infrastructure, illegal mining, investment and the effective regulation of mineral resources.
Stakeholders believe that stronger policies, improved security and greater private-sector participation could help expand the sector’s contribution to national revenue, employment and industrial development.
