Snapchat Launches New Event Planning Features to Challenge Partiful
Snapchat has introduced a new set of event planning tools designed to help users organise and manage gatherings with friends directly through the platform.
Called Snapchat Plans, the new features allow users to create invitations, share event information and monitor attendance without having to rely on separate messaging or event planning applications.
Users can create a plan by selecting an event title, date and time before inviting up to 200 friends.
Invitations are delivered through individual chats, while guests can respond by selecting whether they are going, might attend or cannot attend.
Hosts can also update event information, invite additional people and monitor the guest list after an event has been created.
Snapchat is positioning the new feature as a competitor to dedicated event planning services such as Partiful, which has become popular among younger users.
The move also follows Apple’s introduction of its own event invitation service, as technology companies increasingly look for ways to help younger audiences organise activities and strengthen connections beyond online communication.
The platform has also added a My Plans section where users can view their current, upcoming and previous events.
Friends can see events they have in common, while guests can change their responses and receive reminders before an event begins.
Snapchat said the feature is designed to make organising real world gatherings easier by keeping invitations, attendance information and event details in one place.
