Fox Corporation Beats Revenue Expectations on World Cup Advertising

Last Updated: August 6, 2026By

Fox Corporation reported fourth-quarter revenue above Wall Street expectations, driven by a surge in advertising revenue during the FIFA World Cup and strong audience engagement across its news and sports programming. The company said the global football tournament attracted record numbers of viewers, encouraging advertisers to increase spending on television and digital platforms.

Executives said sports broadcasting remained one of the company’s strongest revenue drivers, while its digital platforms also recorded increased advertising demand. The company noted that premium live sporting events continue to command higher advertising rates because they attract large audiences that are difficult to reach through other media.

Fox added that its direct-to-consumer initiatives and expanded digital offerings continue to strengthen its long-term business strategy. Management said it will keep investing in sports rights, news programming and streaming services to maintain its competitive position in the media industry.

Industry analysts said the company’s results demonstrate the financial value of securing exclusive broadcasting rights for major sporting events. They noted that advertisers remain willing to pay premium prices to reach audiences during live events with high global viewership.

Investors reacted positively to the earnings report, saying Fox remains well positioned to benefit from future international sporting competitions and continued growth in digital advertising.
