Polymarket Faces Scrutiny Over Alleged Use of Misleading Promotional Content

Last Updated: June 22, 2026By

Prediction market platform Polymarket has come under increasing scrutiny following allegations that it sponsored online content creators to publish promotional videos containing simulated betting activity and exaggerated earnings claims.

According to findings from a recent media investigation, hundreds of videos promoting the platform were reviewed, with many reportedly depicting betting results and trading activities that did not reflect actual transactions.

Some of the content was allegedly produced using websites designed to closely resemble the official Polymarket platform.

The report further claimed that promotional efforts were amplified through coordinated social media campaigns managed by external marketing contractors.

Critics argue that such tactics may have created unrealistic expectations among viewers regarding potential profits and platform performance.

Questions have also emerged regarding disclosure practices. Investigators alleged that some creators were initially encouraged not to clearly indicate that they had received compensation for promoting the platform.

However, several content creators reportedly updated their social media profiles to identify themselves as Polymarket partners after inquiries from journalists.

One former creator associated with the platform defended the promotional approach, arguing that the videos were intended to illustrate possible user experiences rather than deceive viewers.

Nevertheless, concerns remain about whether audiences were adequately informed about the nature of the content they were consuming.

In response to the allegations, Polymarket reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and fair market practices.

The company stated that it intends to conduct a review of its promotional activities to ensure compliance with advertising standards and maintain public trust in its platform.
