Starbucks Launches Major Store Revamp to Revive Global Sales

Last Updated: May 20, 2026By

Starbucks is rolling out a major global store revamp as the company attempts to revive slowing customer traffic in key markets including the United States and China.

The coffee giant said it plans to redesign thousands of outlets with faster service systems, improved seating layouts and stronger mobile-order integration.

Executives explained that changing consumer habits and increasing competition from local coffee brands have pressured sales growth over the past year.

Starbucks is therefore focusing on convenience, delivery expansion and digital loyalty programmes to attract younger consumers and improve customer retention.

The company is also introducing new beverage lines and healthier menu options in response to changing consumer preferences.

Demand for cold drinks and customised beverages continues to rise globally, especially among younger customers using mobile ordering systems.

China remains one of Starbucks’ most important international markets, though competition from domestic chains has intensified significantly.

The company believes long-term coffee demand in Asia still presents major expansion opportunities despite current economic uncertainty.

Analysts say Starbucks is entering a critical phase where operational speed, digital engagement and customer experience will play a larger role in determining growth across the global restaurant sector.
