Amazon has unveiled a new artificial intelligence feature designed to enhance the online shopping experience through interactive audio responses.
The tool allows customers to ask questions about products and receive real-time, conversational answers generated by AI-powered “shopping experts.” This innovation aims to simplify product research and make online shopping more intuitive.

The feature, known as “Join the chat,” enables users to engage in a dynamic conversation about a product’s features, reviews, and suitability.
Instead of scrolling through lengthy descriptions, customers can ask specific questions, such as whether a product is beginner-friendly or comfortable and receive tailored responses based on aggregated data.

Amazon says the AI is designed to build on previous interactions, ensuring that responses remain relevant and non-repetitive. This creates a more natural experience, similar to speaking with a knowledgeable store assistant. The company emphasizes that users can guide the conversation, making the interaction highly personalized.

This capability is part of a broader feature called “Hear the highlights,” which provides short audio summaries for millions of products within the Amazon Shopping app. While the feature is currently available in the United States, only selected products include audio summaries at this stage.

To access the tool, users can tap the “Hear the highlights” option on a product page and then choose to enter the chat interface. The audio continues playing even as users navigate through the app, offering a seamless browsing experience.

The launch builds on Amazon’s expanding suite of AI-powered tools, including features that assist with product comparisons, recommendations, and personalized shopping insights.

Together, these innovations reflect the company’s broader push to integrate generative AI into everyday consumer experiences.
