Amazon and Flipkart Escalate Competition in India’s Fast Delivery Sector
India’s quick commerce sector is witnessing intensified competition as Flipkart and Amazon expand aggressively into rapid delivery services.
The market is growing quickly, driven by rising consumer demand, even as profitability challenges remain.
Flipkart, owned by Walmart, has expanded its network to over 800 micro-fulfillment centers, commonly known as dark stores, and plans to double that number by 2026.
Its quick delivery service, launched in 2024, offers deliveries within minutes, aligning with industry trends focused on speed and convenience.
Despite entering the segment later than some competitors, Flipkart is gaining traction through competitive pricing and expansion beyond major cities.
Amazon is also strengthening its presence by deploying hundreds of similar facilities to capture growing demand for faster delivery services.
Analysts note that while large cities remain the primary drivers of demand and profitability, smaller towns present long-term growth opportunities.
However, the rising competition and operational costs may eventually lead to consolidation within the sector.
