Seplat Energy Resumes Operations After Strike Suspension

Last Updated: April 6, 2026By

Seplat Energy has resumed operations after workers suspended a strike that had disrupted production. The action followed renewed negotiations between the company and labour unions over wage agreements.

The strike had raised concerns about oil output at a time when Nigeria is aiming to increase production. Workers initially walked out after talks stalled, threatening operations across key facilities.

Union leaders confirmed that industrial action was paused to allow further negotiations to continue within an agreed framework. Discussions are expected to focus on finalising a new collective bargaining agreement.

Seplat has set a production target of up to 155,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day this year. Maintaining stable operations is critical for meeting both domestic energy needs and export commitments.

Analysts say the resolution highlights the importance of labour stability in the energy sector. Any prolonged disruption could have wider implications for supply and revenue in Nigeria’s oil industry.
