Pro-Billionaire March in San Francisco Draws Modest Crowd
A rally in support of California’s billionaires attracted only a small turnout in San Francisco over the weekend, with roughly three dozen participants attending the so-called “March for Billionaires.”
The event was met by a smaller group of ironic counter-protesters and a disproportionately large media presence.
Organized by tech entrepreneur Derik Kauffman, the march aimed to oppose a proposed state ballot measure that would impose a one-time 5% wealth tax on individuals worth more than $1 billion.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has already indicated he would veto the measure if passed.
Despite its limited attendance, the march gained outsized attention online due to its unconventional premise.
Participants carried humorous and provocative signs, drawing both curiosity and criticism from onlookers.
Kauffman, who is not a billionaire himself, framed the protest as part of a broader critique of state spending priorities.
However, public reaction suggested limited appetite for a movement openly championing the ultra-wealthy amid ongoing economic inequality debates.
