New ‘Depth Investigation’ Mode in Mistral’s Le Chat Automaton Now Designed to Enhance Productivity
Mistral, a French AI center, has recently enhanced its Le Chat chatbot with a variety of new features that bring it closer to the capabilities of its competitors, including OpenAI and Google.
A new “deep research” mode, advanced image manipulation, and native multilingual reasoning are all included in the latest update.
The announcement was made just a few days after Mistral unveiled Voxtral, its inaugural open-source AI audio model that is capable of transcription, reasoning in multiple languages, and other capabilities. Le Chat also offers Voxtral.
Mistral asserts that its new deep research mode, similar to those provided by its competitors, transforms Le Chat into a coordinated research assistant capable of planning, clarifying your requirements, searching, and synthesizing data.
“The model conducts a thorough investigation of a wide range of online sources to address a particular inquiry,” stated Elisa Salamanca, Mistral’s head of product, in an interview with TechCrunch.
“We are confident that this feature will be highly relevant for both consumer and enterprise use cases.”
For consumers, it has the capacity to conduct research on travel and offer a comprehensive analysis of the most suitable travel arrangements. Further, it is capable of conducting thorough investigation for enterprise purposes.
Salamanca observes that Mistral is prioritizing the integration of Le Chat and Mistral’s productivity suite into enterprise ecosystems with this release, despite the fact that the updates are accessible across all tiers — Free, Pro, Team, and Enterprise.
This is primarily due to the fact that Mistral operates data connectors in a manner that differs from that of its competitors.
Salamanca cited consumers in the banking, defense, and government sectors, stating that “a significant number of customers who possess highly sensitive data do not utilize cloud services, or if they do, they do so on their own premises with virtual private clouds.”
Salamanca stated that Mistral’s Le Chat and productivity suite are capable of connecting to enterprise data that is stored on-premises.
In other words, organizations can leverage Le Chat’s complex reasoning and other capabilities to analyze their own internal data without the need to transmit anything to the cloud.
This is a significant distinction from cloud-native LLM platforms such as OpenAI, which is hosted on Azure, and Gemini, which is based on Google Cloud. It also provides Mistral with the opportunity to provide additional productivity aids.
Netflix, ElevenLabs, Wayve, and Sequoia Capital are among the prominent companies that have joined the Disrupt 2025 agenda.
Salamanca stated, “We are committed to ensuring that our capabilities are seamlessly integrated with popular office suites such as Microsoft Excel and Google Docs, particularly when we release Le Chat Enterprise.”
“We are actually taking a step in that direction with the connectors that we release with Le Chat Enterprise. We are internally developing these connectors because we are confident that they will be essential for utilizing Le Chat as a productivity enabler in the business context.”
Le Chat has received additional upgrades today in addition to profound reasoning. Magistral, Mistral’s new AI model for reasoning, has enabled users to utilize Le Chat to address intricate inquiries; however, this functionality was previously exclusively accessible in English.
Currently, Mistral inherently supports multilingual reasoning in a variety of languages, including French, Spanish, and Japanese. In the middle of a sentence, Le Chat can also code-switch between languages, according to Mistral.
The most recent update from Mistral also includes the inclusion of Projects, which facilitates user organization by organizing conversations, documents, and ideas into focused spaces.
It is possible for each project to have its own default library and to retain the tools and settings that a user has enabled. Designing a new product feature, planning a relocation, or maintaining the progress of work-related initiatives are among the use cases, according to Mistral.
Le Chat is finally receiving enhanced image-editing capabilities. This enables users to generate and modify images by responding to queries such as “remove the object” or “place me in another city.”
The new features have elevated Mistral to a more competitive position in comparison to the AI industry’s leaders, distinguishing Le Chat as a full-stack competitor rather than merely a model demonstration.
