The Wall Street Journal has reported that the U.S. Defense Department issued a call to top Silicon Valley talent in October to apply for high-ranking positions in the U.S. Army Reserve.

This move was intended to enable them to be periodically contacted for short-term initiatives in fields such as cybersecurity and data.

Silicon Valley is now reporting for duty eight months later.

Andrew Bosworth and Shyam Sankar, the CTOs of Meta and Palantir, respectively, will comprise the inaugural cohort of this program, as originally reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Kevin Weil, the chief product officer of OpenAI, and Bob McGrew, the chief research officer, will also be present.
